Chistopher Columbus
I am composing this study about the life of Columbus, the first European of his clip to go to the OAmericasO. He is regarded by some to be a hero for what he achieved but by others he is considered a felon for what he did to the Native Americans.
Columbus was born in Genoa, Italy in 1451. He began sailing at the age of 14 and after many ocean trips he established himself as a reputable crewman. Initially Columbus approached the Portuguese male monarch and the Spanish sovereign to obtain a grant to research possible trade paths to the West. but after being turned down many times he went to king Ferdinand and queen Isabella and after several attempt they agreed to fund his ocean trip.
I believe that Columbus was a good leader for several grounds. One being that he believed in himself because when he set out he knew what he was making and was reasonably certain he knew what he was traveling to happen. The 2nd being that he kept control of his crew throughout his journey. He had a raucous group of criminalz that werenOt excessively happy to be at that place but he lied to them about their distance traveled to maintain them from panicking which shows that he knows how to manage state of affairss. ird he kept everyones assurance up, he ever spoke positively about what they had done and what he had planned for them.
Though many of the things he did demo his features as a good leader there were besides some things that he did that contradict those. The chief one being the manner that he treated the OIndiansO. They were peaceable and welcomed him but alternatively of returning that kindness and trying to construct a relationship he forced them into bondage and went after their land and recources. Besides he got selfish when it came to the gold that he thought was at that place, he was coercing the indigens to convey it to him which sort of goes back to his first mistake.
I donOt regard Columbus as some people might. I think it is a great achievement to happen a continent that people from your land hadnOt known about it. But when you consider that he truly wasnOt the first individual to detect it and he found it on accident. And the things that he did when got here donOt demo the qualities of a hero every bit far as im concerned.
So that is what Christopher Columbus is known for but as you can see his find isnOt all that itOs cracked up to be. And many would state we should give up Columbus twenty-four hours because that isnOt what our state should stand for.
